Riverside grabs good government award

Riverside’s Internal Audit Division has been recognized by the Association of Local Government Auditors for excellent performance.

The division received the 2016 Distinguished Knighton Award for best performance audit, according to a statement on the city’s website.

The audit, titled Wastewater Collection System – Asset Management, had the potential to make a significant impact on the city, was persuasive in its conclusions and focused on improving government efficiency, the association concluded.

“Riverside has the most responsible and responsive local government in California, and this award is more evidence of that,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said in the statement. “Our residents and business owners can be confident that [their] city government is being run effectively and efficiently.”

The association, better known as ALGA was founded in 1985. It supports and helps to improve local government services by promoting excellence in the internal auditing field. It represents more than 300 local government audit organizations throughout the United States, according to the statement.
