The San Manuel Band of Mission Indians has donated $45,000 to the Friends of the San Bernardino Public Library.
The money will be used to buy books at the city’s four public libraries, according to a statement posted on the city’s website.
“I would like to thank the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians for their great generosity in providing funding for … library books for all ages to promote education and early literacy for children in our city,” Library Director Edward Erjavek said in the statement.
“This is a great example of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians contributing to the library and the residents of our city in its time of need, and we’re grateful to the Tribe for the donation.”
Books donated by the tribe will be stamped with the tribe’s name. They will also be noted in the library’s public access catalogue.
In November 2015, the San Manuel tribe donated $40,000 to buy books for San Bernardino’s public library system, Erjavek said in the statement.
