Riverside’s vehicle fleet was ranked sixth on the list of 100 Best Fleets in the Americas by Government Fleet Magazine at the recent National Association of Fleet Administrators Institute & Expo, an annual event.
Last year, Riverside ranked 32 among an estimated 38,000 public fleets, according to statement on the city’s website.
Riverside’s fleet was recognized for its alternative fuels program, in particular its recent addition of a hydrogen fuel station, its emphasis on staff development with training and certification programs; and its efficient delivery systems, according to the statement.
“Being in the Top 10 Best Fleets in the Americas is extraordinary, and the addition of a hydrogen fuel station speaks volumes about Riverside’s commitment to sustainability,” Mayor Rusty Bailey said in the statement. “This is another example of a Team Riverside effort and a testament to our ‘continual improvement’ approach to public service.”
