Moreno Valley recently received a Merit Award from the Inland Empire chapter of the American Planning Association for its Nason Street Corridor Plan.
City officials accepted the award during a ceremony last month at the Riverside Convention Center, according to a statement.
The Nason Street Corridor Plan will extend south from the 60 Freeway to Iris Avenue. It calls for the conversion of more than 2,100 acres into a mixed-use development that will include jobs, housing, well-connected neighborhoods, open space and multiple means of transportation, according to the statement.
The Southern California Association of Governments is providing funding for the plan.
