Esri enhances its address converting software

Redlands-based Esri has made improvements to its World Geocoding service, a software that converts addresses into locations and locations into addresses.

The upgrades include better address matching, easier ways to identify locations and better methods for identifying intersections on a map, according to a statement released Tuesday.

The intersection improvements includes features that don’t touch each other, like streets that are connected by roundabouts.

Twenty five more countries, including Cuba, Bangladesh and Libya, are accessible because of the upgrades, Esri reported.

World Geocoding provides information for more than 130 countries, which accounts for more than 90 percent of the world’s population, according to the statement.

Esri is a leader in GIS [geographical information system] software, which is used by more than 350,000 organizations worldwide, including cities, college and universities, national governments, and an estimated 75 percent of all Fortune 500 companies, according to the statement.
