OIA passenger numbers stay up

Passenger traffic at Ontario International Airport continued to rise during June.

The airport’s passenger count was up 6.8 percent that month compared with June 2016, according to the Ontario International Airport Authority.

Ontario International served 381,312 passengers during June, compared with 356,952 passengers in June 2016.

The airport’s two international carriers, AeroMexico and Volaris, accommodated 12,860 passengers in June, a year-over-year increase of 6.2 percent.

During the first half of this year, overall passenger traffic at Ontario International was up 6.4 percent compared with the first half of 2016, as the airport served more than 2.1 million passengers.

International traffic was up 1.7 percent during that time, from 66,471 passengers last year to 67,587 this year.

Cargo freight handled increased 18.4 percent year-over-year in June and 15.2 percent during the first six months of 2017, the airport authority reported.
