Daniel R. Wilson is the new president of Western University Health Sciences in Pomona.
Wilson was invested last week in a ceremony at Fairplex that included the annual convocation ceremony, the traditional start of the academic year, according to a statement on the school’s website.
Wilson, whose appointment was announced a little more than a year ago, replaces President Emeritus Philip Pumerantz, the school’s first president.
During his inaugural address, Wilson pledged to form more international partnerships on behalf of the school and announced several projects he plans to undertake, including an innovation center that will focus on trends in health and education.
After the ceremony, all of Western University’s nine colleges held a white coat ceremony, which symbolizes the start of a student’s career as a healthcare professional.
