Riverside to hold Day of Service

Riverside is scheduled to hold a citywide “Day of Service” Sep. 11, the 16th anniversary of the terrorists attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.

The event is meant to thank fire and police department personnel for their service to the community, according to a statement on the city’s website.

Last year was Riverside’s first Day of Service. Blood drives and CPR training stations were held. More than $2,000 was raised for police and fire associations and over 300 residents volunteer for the 9/11 Day of Service.

This year’s opening ceremony will start at 9:11 a.m. at Riverside City Hall, 3900 Main St. Closing Ceremony is scheduled for 6 p.m. at La Sierra University, 4500 Riverwalk Parkway.
