The Inland Empire added 6,800 non-agricultural jobs in August, according to data released Friday.
Construction jobs were up 1,200, education and heath care added 800 jobs and the financial sector added 500 positions, the state employment development department reported.
Leisure and hospitality dropped 1,100 jobs during the month, the largest decline of any local sector.
The Inland region’s adjusted unemployment rate in August was 5.1 percent.
