Members of the Teamsters Union at YRC Worldwide, the global logistics firm, have declined a company proposal that would have required them to give up wage increases and pension payments.
Sixty one percent of those workers voted against the proposal, which would have required the union members to extend their current contract to 2019 so YRC Worldwide can avoid a debt crisis, according to multiple published reports.
YRC is based in Kansas. Its truck lines include USF Reddaway, New Penn and Yellow Freight, and it employs roughly 26,000 people nationwide, including about 1,500 in the Inland Empire, according to reports.
