John Abbott has been named principal at Upland High School.
Currently Corona High School’s assistant principal, Abbott s scheduled to take over Nov. 12, according to a statement.
Abbott, a former high school math teacher in San Bernardino, has worked in administration in the Colton Joint Unified and Corona-Norco school districts. He will replace Pamela Salgado, who was promoted to assistant superintendent for secondary education at the Upland Unified School District.
“We’re thrilled to have John join our district team,” said Nancy Kelly, district superintendent, in the statement. “His experience at the high school level and his commitment to the whole child make him an ideal choice to lead our Upland High team.”
Abbott earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from California State San Bernardino and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Azusa Pacific University, according to the statement.
