After two and a half years on the job, the interim director of San Bernardino International Airport has decided to step down.
A.J. Wilson said his family wants him to return to being retired, according to a report in the Inland Valley Daily Bulletin.
Wilson, 72, was hired in November 2011. He was once Pomona’s city manager and he was part of the early redevelopment efforts at the former Norton Air Force Base – now home to SBIA – when it closed in 1994, according to the report.
Wilson’s contract expires at the end of June. The airport’s board is expected to appoint a deputy director interim director, and Wilson has said he will assist in the transition.
Wilson said the airport, which completed a $20.5 million arrivals terminal in February, is currently in “a good position” right now, according to the report.
