Keith Alexander has been named chief of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians’ fire department.
A tribal employee for the last 21 years, Alexander will oversee the department’s day-to-day operations as well as its emergency medical services teams, according to a statement on the San Manuel website.
“Keith has been instrumental in building a world-class fire and emergency services team serving San Manuel Nation and the surrounding community,” said Michael Smith, San Manuel’s president of emergency services, in the statement. “His leadership and expertise have led to the growth and development of the tribe’s emergency services.”
Before joining San Manuel, Alexander spent 14 years as a firefighter and a fire apparatus engineer for the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, better known as CalFire, according to the statement.
