Amazon.com, which operates two distribution centers in the Inland Empire and has a third under construction, announced Thursday that it will hire 80,000 extra seasonal workers.
About 10,000 seasonal workers hired last year have since been made full-time employees by the online retailer, and much the same could happen this year, said Mike Roth, Amazon’s vice president of North America operations, in a statement.
“We’re excited to be creating 80,000 seasonal jobs, thousands of which will lead to regular, full-time roles with benefits,” Roth said.
Seattle-based Amazon now has more than 50 distribution centers in the United States, including five in California and two in the Inland region, in San Bernardino and Moreno Valley. A third is planned for Redlands.
