Amazon hires IE workers

Amazon has hired 3,700 workers in the Inland Empire to meet demand caused by the Coronavirus outbreak.

Jobs filled include full- and part-time picking, packing, shipping and delivery of goods, according to published reports.

About 1,900 of the positions are in San Bernardino County, the other 1,800 in Riverside County.  Since March 16, the online retail giant has hired more than 80,000 employees nationwide and spent more than $350 million helping employees and their families during the health crisis.

Those hired include restaurant cooks, bartenders and servers, flight attendants, teachers, business owners and people in other lines of work who have lost their jobs because of the coronavirus pandemic, according to the reports.

Amazon has 14 fulfillment centers in the Inland Empire, as well as several other large operations.
