Amazon provides food pantry at SB elementary school

Amazon and the Community Action Partnership of San Bernardino County have teamed up to create a food pantry at Hunt Elementary School in San Bernardino.

The online retail giant donated $25,0000 to the partnership to develop the pantry, believing that students perform better on a full stomach, according to a statement.

“Amazon is excited … to provide an accessible and safe setting to help support local children and their families get access to nutritious food,” said Daniel Burton, operations manager Amazon’s San Bernardino fulfillment center, in the statement. “Students are our future innovators, and their success depends on their ability to learn and be curious – they can’t do that on an empty stomach.”

Amazon is working with local food banks and schools to establish food pantries near its fulfillment centers. Its goal is to provide at least 500,000 meals to children across the United States, according to the statement.
