Shareef Amer is Cal State San Bernardino’s new director of athletics.
Amer will oversee 10 programs: women’s basketball, cross country, soccer, softball, track and field and volleyball, and men’s baseball, basketball, soccer and golf, according to a statement on the university’s website.
“I look forward to leading a competitive athletics department where the individuals and sports teams are a point of pride for the Cal State San Bernardino campus and community,” Amer said in the statement. “We will emphasize success in the classroom, on the playing fields, and within the community.”
Amer has more than 11 years experience in intercollegiate athletics administration. Most recently he was associate athletic director for administration and operations at Cal State Northridge, a position he held since February 2019, according to the statement.
