Annual “plane pull” scheduled at OIA

Ontario International Airport and the Friends of Ontario Airport will host the seventh annual Pull For Our Heroes on Saturday, an airplane pull that will benefit several local charities, including Bob Hope USO Ontario.

The plane pull is a tug-of-war in which teams of men and women try and pull a 120,000 pound 727 aircraft, according to a statement.

Each team of 20 members will have two chances to pull their plane 25 feet. Besides bragging rights, the winners will receive awards for Fastest Pull, Slowest Pull, Most Creative Team Name and Top Fundraising Team.

Travelers Aid of the Inland Empire, Baldy View ROP Foundation and the airport’s educational outreach programs for disadvantaged local students will also benefit from the event, according to the statement.’

Exhibitor booths will be on display. The event is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Terminal One, 1940 E. Moore Way. Free parking will be provided in Lot F, and no curbside parking will be allowed.
