Another record month for ONT

Ontario International Airport recorded another record month in July, posting a 14.4 percent year-over-year increase.

The airport handled 666,322 air passengers last month, the most in any month since Ontario International returned to local ownership in November 2016, according to a statement posted Aug. 19 on the airport’s website.

July’s passenger count had 666,322 customers in July, breaking the record for a single month since the airport’s transition to local ownership in 2016. Of those, 629,000 were domestic passengers, a 16.7 percent increase compared with July 2023.

“Our run of year-over-year growth now stands at 41 months,” said Atif Elkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority, in the statement. “Airlines are offering more seats to more places to meet the increasing demand for air travel in the Inland Empire. The higher passenger volumes month after month bear that out.”

ONT handled 62,672 tons of freight and mail in July, an 11.4 percent year-over-year increase.

During the first seven months of this year, Ontario International welcomed nearly four million passengers, 11.6 percent more than January through July of 2023, according to the statement.
