More than 2,000 people applied for 50 job openings in the Inland Empire with Aldi, the grocery store chain that will establish its first Southern California stores next year.
All of the open positions are shift managers that will pay $18 to $23 an hour depending on the person’s work experience, according to an Aldi spokesperson.
It was not known how long the hiring process will take.
The company held job fairs last Friday in Riverside and Monday in San Bernardino, Yucaipa and Lake Elsinore.
Aldi plans to open stores in Beaumont, Fontana, Highland, La Quinta, Lake Elsinore, Menifee, Moreno Valley, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Redlands and Yucaipa as part of its move into Southern California.
Aldi operates more than 1,400 U.S. stores in 32 states and serves more than 30 million customers a month, according to a company statement.
