Michael Barbaro, host of The New York Times podcast The Daily, will deliver the 55th Annual Hays Press-Enterprise Lecture at UC Riverside this spring.
Barbaro will discuss the state of journalism today, cable television versus the popularity of podcasts and the creation of The Daily, which started in 2017, according to a statement on UC Riverside’s website.
Before hosting The Daily, Barbaro was a national political correspondent for the Times and host of “The Run-up,” a podcast that reported on the 2016 election.
Howard H. (Tim) Hays established The Hays Press-Enterprise Lecture Series with UC Riverside in 1966, when Hays was editor of The Press-Enterprise. He died in 1966.
The lecture is scheduled to he held at 6 p.m. March 4 at the University Theatre and is open to the public. Provost Elizabeth Watkins will emcee, and a Q&A session will follow Barbaro’s remarks.
