Ben Clymer’s Gives Away Car to Moreno Valley Family

Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop held its 16th Benevolence Car Giveaway on Thursday, September 10 in Moreno Valley. The vehicle giveaway has been an annual event at all five Ben Clymer’s locations for the past eight years.

Each giveaway involves the Clymer family and their staff working diligently to choose a deserving family as a recipient. The family, who will receive a pre-owned vehicle in excellent condition, must be living in the same city of the Ben Clymer’s location that is giving away the vehicle. This year’s winner is the Chabot family of Moreno Valley.

Roland and Margaret Chabot were nominated by their daughter, Julie Clark. “Mr. Chabot had kidney failure and has been on dialysis,” said Ben Clymer Jr. “He was a small biz owner, and dialysis kept him from running his business. He is still undergoing treatment.” When the family fell on hard times, Ms. Clark and her husband moved in to support the two parents. At that time, the family only had one car between the four of them.

“There was no car to take Roland to dialysis,” Clymer said. “And he’s still waiting, like everyone else, for a transplant.” The Ben Clymer’s staff of Moreno Valley chose the Chabots from a list of 10 candidates. “They are getting a 2011 Honda Civic,” Clymer said. “It’s a great vehicle.”

Ben Clymer’s The Body Shop will hold its next Benevolence Car Giveaway at its Pomona location on October 8, followed by another giveaway on November 12 at the Riverside location. Clymer plans to continue holding the event annually at all Ben Clymer’s shops. “The local community helps make our business possible, and we want to invest back in them,” he said. “That was our upbringing.”
