Big Lots shuts down AV distribution center

Big Lots will permanently close its Apple Valley distribution center.

The closure, announced Sept. 19, will put 349 people out of work, according to multiple reports.

All employees who lose their jobs because of the closure will receive full pay and benefits through Nov. 3.

The facility at 18880 Navajo Road opened in 2020. Material and power equipment handlers work there, along with some supervisors and administrators. \

Based in Columbus, Ohio, the discount retailer filed for bankruptcy this month, claiming that inflation and the overall state of the economy had causes many consumers to curtail their retail spending.

In August, the company announced it planned to close at least 315 stores nationwide.   During the first quarter of this year, Big Lots reported a net loss of $205 million, according to the reports.
