Menifee has opened Freedom Bridge at Bradley Road, a 365-foot-long structure that will help reduce flooding in that part of the city.
Formerly known as the Bradley Road Bridge over Salt Creek, the name was changed by the city council following a recommendation by Menifee’s Veterans and Military Families Advisory Committee, according to a statement on the city’s website.
City officials held an opening ceremony Oct. 13.
“The opening of Freedom Bridge represents another significant investment in Menifee’s infrastructure and our commitment to improving the quality of life for our residents,” said Mayor Pro Tem Bob Karwin in the statement. “This long-awaited project not only provides a safer and more reliable connection for our community, it also improves emergency response capabilities and addresses longstanding flooding concerns.”
The $16 million project was paid for with funds from state, and county sources, including Menifee’s Quality of Life Measure and the Riverside County Flood Control District, according to the statement.
