The Building Industry Association of Southern California has formed its own charitable foundation.
The nonprofit Builders for Better Communities Foundation will partner with homebuilding industry members who support education programs that help better communities, according to a statement.
The foundation will focus on the association’s Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiative, said Jeff Montejano the association’s chief executive officer.
“We firmly believe that the future rests in our collective ability to embrace change and leverage diversity through its celebration of differences such as race, gender, disability, religion, and age,” Montejano said in the statement. “All aspects of diversity enrich our workplace, leadership, and membership and provide continued community support.”
To get the foundation started, the association will host an event Oct. 26 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills featuring former President George W. Bush, during which affordable housing opportunities for veterans will be discussed.
