Moreno Valley Mayor Ulises Cabrera has been selected by the Southern California Association of Governments to represent its regional council district No. 69.
Cabrera will begin his two-year term in May, representing Moreno Valley and Perris, according to a statement on Moreno Valley’s website.
Cabrera was the only person to apply for the position. He succeeds Perris Council Member Marisela Nava.
“Collaboration is key to building a stronger future for Moreno Valley and our entire region,” Cabrera said in the statement. “I’m honored to take on this role, and I look forward to working alongside our partners to continue boosting the region’s economy.”
SCAG is the nation’s largest metropolitan planning organization, covering six counties and nearly 19 million residents, according to the statement.
