Steven N. Garcia has been named Cal Poly Pomona’s vice president for administrative affairs and chief financial officer.
Garcia, who is scheduled to start his new job Jan. 6., replaces Ed Barnes, who is retiring Dec. 1 after more than 30 years at the school, according to a statement.
Garcia is currently senior vice president for finance and administration at Claremont Graduate University, where he oversees a number of services, including budgets, accounting, grants, contracts and facilities.
Before that Garcia held similar positions at California State University, Los Angeles and the University of Northern Colorado, and he has analyzed issues involving higher education for the governor’s office in Washington, according to the statement.
