Cal State San Bernardino to open alumni center

Cal State San Bernardino will open an on-campus alumni center.

A grand opening ceremony is scheduled for Sept. 18 in the two-story building that was formally the Santos Manuel Student Union (SMSU) East building, according to a statement on the university’s website.

“This alumni center is not just a physical space, it is a symbol of the strong bond that exists between our alumni and the university,” said Robert J. Nava, vice president for university advancement, in the statement. “It will serve as a place where memories are cherished, connections are strengthened, and the legacy of Cal State San Bernardino celebrated. We are taking a significant step forward in strengthening our alumni network.”

The center includes a boardroom dedicated to the university’s philanthropic foundation’s board and the alumni association’s board of directors, workspaces for alumni relations and annual giving and the alumni hall of fame.

Sixty seven percent of Cal State San Bernardino’s alumni live and work in the Inland Empire, according to the statement.
