Apparently, a majority of Californians believe that global warming is real.
More than 60 percent of state residents say global warming is real and is having a negative impact on the state, according to the results of a survey released Wednesday by the Public Policy Institute of California, a non-partisan think tank in San Francisco.
Only one group is holding out against that view.
A majority of Republicans told the institute they don’t believe in global warming and they don’t believe it will be a problem in the future, the survey found.
Sixty four percent of those surveyed said they believe global warming is contributing to the catastrophic drought that is now plaguing the state, while 52 percent said climate change is a “very serious threat” to California’s future.
The survey, which had a margin-of-error of plus or minus 3.7 percent, also found that 64 percent of those surveyed support the state passing stricter climate control laws than the federal government.
