Cardenas Markets Foundation has awarded 59 $2,000 scholarships – $118,000 – to help local students pay for their higher education.
“The fact that we can give back is so important to us,” said Adam Salgado, Cardenas Markets’ chief marketing officer and president of the Cardenas Markets Foundation. “Hispanics have had financial challenges to remain in school, and we are proud to do what we can to help our future leaders achieve their educational goals.”
Scholarship recipients were selected based on their academic record, financial need and leadership qualities.
The Cardenas Markets Foundation is a stand-alone, non-profit corporation and the charitable arm of the Ontario-based Latino supermarket chain. Founded in 2005, the foundation is known for its charitable and community engagement efforts.
