Casino gets new name

San Manuel Casino has been renamed the Yaamava’ Resort & Casino at San Manuel.

Officials with the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians announced the name change last week, months after beginning a three-phase expansion of its gaming operations near Highland.

“Today marks a new chapter of rebirth and boundless potential, so we have given our property a new name—Yaamava’—the Serrano word for ‘spring,’” said San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Chairman Ken Ramirez in a statement “We are immensely grateful to our Tribal citizens, the thousands of San Manuel team members, and millions of valued guests over the years, all of whom helped make this moment possible.”

In December, Yaamava’ Resort & Casino will open its 17-floor hotel, which will feature 432 guest rooms, including 127 suites. It will also have a pool deck with seven private cabanas and a full-service spa.

A 2,800-seat entertainment venue is scheduled to open next year.

Yaamava’ Resort & Casino will continue to be owned by the San Manuel Entertainment Authority. The tribe expects to employ more than 6,000 people by the end of this year.
