Chaffey College broke ground May 6 on a structure that will house a learning resource center, among other amenities.
The 35,100-square-foot Chino Campus Instructional Building will include classrooms, an expanded library, faculty offices, outdoor courtyards and gathering spaces for students, according to a statement on the school’s website.
The project will be paid for with state grants and revenue from Measure P, a bond measure passed in November 2019. Measure P raises money for new facilities and infrastructure upgrades at Chaffey College’s four campuses: Chino, Fontana, Ontario and Rancho Cucamonga.
Measure P is expected to generate about $700 million. Major projects are underway on all four campuses, including renovation of the Rancho Cucamonga campus’ pool.
Cost of the Chino Campus Instructional Building was not disclosed.
Superintendent-President Henry Shannon, members of the Chaffey College governing board and local dignitaries, including Rep. Norma Torres, D-Ontario attended the ceremony is scheduled at 5897 College Park Ave.
