China Airlines will resume daily round-trip flights at Ontario International Airport.
The airline, which discontinued all service in and out of Ontario International in March 2020 because of the pandemic, is scheduled to begin those flights to Taipei March 26, according to a statement on the airport’s website.
The flights between Ontario International and Taoyuan International Airport are another milestone in Ontario International’s recovery from COVID-19, according to Atif Elkadi, chief executive officer of the Ontario International Airport Authority.
“We have eagerly awaited the resumption of daily service between Ontario and Taiwan,” Elkadi said in the statement. “This development is a testament to the demand for long-haul international travel from the Inland Empire.”
China Airlines was the first carrier to offer transoceanic flights out of Ontario International after the airport was returned to local ownership in November 2016. It resumed some of those flights in June 2021, and added service as demand increased, according to the statement.
