Cory Cisneros has been promoted to chief by the Barstow Fire Protection District.
A member of the fire service for 28 years, Cisneros was most recently battalion chief before being selected to lead the district, according to a statement on the city’s website.
Cisneros has also been an explorer, paid-call firefighter, apprentice firefighter, firefighting while being a paramedic, instructor, and fire captain.
He replaces Nick DiNapoli, who retired in June after 42 years with the district.
“Chief Cisneros has proven to be an effective leader throughout his career, and we know he will be instrumental in guiding our fire department as our city continues to grow,” said Andrew Espinoza Jr., Barstow’s interim city manager, in the statement. “We are thrilled to have him as fire chief.”
