Cleanup of Palm Canyon wash to begin

The Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District will began moving debris Tuesday from the Palm Canyon Wash on the south end of Palm Springs.

Work will be done from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. weekdays and is expected to be finished by March 31 of next year, according to a statement on the city’s website.

The debris remains from this year’s Valentine’s Day storm.

District officials expect to remove 200 dump loads of debris each day. Their goal is to restore the wash to full capacity and reduce the risk of floods to nearby communities.

More truck traffic is expected on East Palm Canyon Drive during the cleanup. Trucks reach East Palm Canyon near Escoba Drive and Ponderosa Way, traveling east into Cathedral City, according to the statement.
