San Bernardino County has opened an affordable housing community in Redlands for veterans and persons with special needs.
Liberty Lane, an 80-unit facility at West Lugonia Avenue and Texas Street, recently held a ribbon-cutting ceremony, according to a county statement.
Multiple services are available, including case management, behavioral health care, and rental assistance, according to the statement.
The $51 million project, which includes 62 permanent housing units, began accepting residents several months ago. It was developed by the county and A Community of Friends, a Los Angeles nonprofit that builds, owns, and manages affordable rental housing for homeless people.
J.P. Morgan Chase also contributed an unspecified amount.
“This project demonstrates our dedication to supporting veterans in our community, many of whom have faced housing challenges,” said board of supervisor’s Chair Dawn Rowe in the statement. “Liberty Lane provides a safe and stable place to live along with the supportive services for residents need to rebuild their lives.”
