Riverside County’s executive office is recommending a $7 billion budget for fiscal year 2021-2022.
Programs to be funded include social services, public works, community services, healthcare, and public safety, according to a statement on the county’s website.
Approximately $950 million will cover general fund expenses, with $3 million designated for unincorporated areas.
The recommended budget also sets aside $240 million in federal relief for pandemic response and recovery needs.
“Aligning the county’s budget to the values and priorities of the Board of Supervisors is a constant and disciplined effort,” said County Executive Officer Jeff Van Wagenen in the statement. “This recommended budget starts the process for a strategic plan that will ultimately achieve just that. A budget is much more than numbers.”
Budget workshops, including department presentations, are scheduled for June 14 and 15. The final budget is scheduled to be adopted June 29.
