Covered California, the state agency that is administering the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, will add 350 customer service representatives to its telephone lines.
About 900 people are reportedly answering telephones for the program now, and the extra workers will help reduce the wait time and make the program more accessible, according to a statement released Monday by Covered California.
All of the new workers will stay in place through March 31, when open enrollment for the program ends.
Nearly 30 Spanish-speaking representatives will be hired, according to the statement.
