Crafton Hills College and Cal State San Bernardino have started a program designed to make it easier to transfer from the two-year college in Yucaipa to the university.
Officials at both schools launched “Coyotes on the Horizon” during a signing ceremony April 17 at the community college in Yucaipa, according to statement.
The memorandum of understanding between the two institutions includes:
- Guaranteed admission, and priority registration for all Crafton Hills students who complete an associate degree for transfer, and who meet application deadlines.
- Joint advising and mentorship beginning at Crafton Hills, and continuing until the student has completed the transfer;
- Support by Cal State San Bernardino staff at Crafton Hills campus to help with admissions, workshops, and academic planning;
- A simpler transfer and application process.
“This is what equity looks like in action,” said Ivan Peña, dean of student services and counseling at Crafton Hills College, in the statement. “We’re not just opening doors, we’re walking alongside our students every step of the way.”
