CSUSB Approaches 50th Anniversary, Makes Event Plans

As California State University San Bernardino approaches its 50th anniversary this fall, preparations are underway for the Legacy of Leadership Celebration September 17 through 20. According to the university’s events calendar, the event is scheduled to be held at approximately 15 locations throughout CSUSB’s 441-acre campus.

The campus event director was not available for comment on the nature of the event, but a representative stated that details will be forthcoming.

According to university president Dr. Tomás D. Morales, CSUSB will hold more than 150 campus and community events throughout fall 2015. Community events are denoted by involvement from outside organizers and attendees; the San Bernardino County Water Conference, a community event, was held at the Santos Manuel Student Event Center on August 21.

The school opened as California State College at San Bernardino in 1965 with 293 students and 30 faculty members. The college earned its university status in 1984, officially becoming California State University, San Bernardino. Today, the university has more than 18,000 students and 84,000 alumni.
