CSUSB names interim police chief

Jeffrey Godown has been named interim chief of the Cal State San Bernardino Police Department.

Godown replaces Nina Jansen, who will step down Feb.1, according to a statement on the university’s website.

A veteran of more than 30 years in law enforcement, including time with the Los Angeles and San Francisco police departments, Godown began work Jan. 19. He is in charge of 20 sworn officers, 22 community service officers, 29 parking enforcement employees, five police dispatchers and four administrative employees.

“We are very pleased and fortunate to have Jeff join us as the interim chief of our university police department and look forward to him continuing to lead our efforts on community policing and campus engagement,” said Sam Sudhakar, spokesman for Cal State San Bernardino, in the statement.

The university plans to conduct a national search for Jansen’s replacement. The statement does not say whether Godown will be a candidate.
