Cal State San Bernardino has broken ground on its Students Success Center at its Palm Desert campus.
The May 9 ceremony marks the beginning of construction on the facility that will improve support services, and make it easier to take higher education classes in the Coachella Valley, according to a statement on the university’s website.
“This is a historic day for the Palm Desert Campus,” said Tomás D. Morales, president of Cal State San Bernardino, in the statement. “We want to create a space where students feel that they belong, they feel validated, they feel like they belong in higher education.”
The center, which will accommodate up to 4,000 full-time students, is expected to be completed in two years. It will cover 23,700 square feet and will include an advising/tutoring center, career center, expanded campus library, group study space, a cross-cultural center, a campus bookstore and a student health center, according to the statement.
