The California University of Science and Medicine has been accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.
That accreditation, by the association’s senior college and university commission, validates the Colton-based medical school’s academic structure and its role in providing doctors for the Inland Empire, according to a university statement.
“The community at CUSM is excited to reach this significant milestone of WASC accreditation,” said Dr. Paul Lyons, the university’s president and dean, in the statement. “Everyone in our community has been a part of achieving this milestone due to the ongoing focus on providing the best medical education possible to our students.”
The university, which has graduated two classes and has four enrolled, has been working on the accreditation since the school was founded in 2015. The accreditation will be reviewed in six years, according to the statement.
