Dollar General Corp., the retail discount chain, will open two more stores in Riverside County next year.
The chain, which currently operates 26 Inland Empire stores – 11 in Riverside County and 15 in San Bernardino County – is planning to open 900 new stores throughout the United States in 2016, said Dan MacDonald, company spokesman.
The exact locations of the planned Riverside County stores were not available.
Dollar General has no plans to open any stores in San Bernardino County next year, MacDonald said.
The Tennessee-based retailer is looking to up its profile while two of its closest competitors, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar, prepare to merge. Dollar General added more than 700 stores this year and remodeled nearly 900 of its locations, according to reports.
