A prominent High Desert physician will make a major donation to Victor Valley College.
Dr. Prem Reddy, chief executive officer of Prime Healthcare Services, has agreed to donate $2 million to the school, the largest single charitable donation in its 53-year history, according to a story first published in the Victorville Daily Press.
The money will be distributed during the next two years to help develop a 22,000-square-foot health and sciences building at the college, which will be named after Reddy.
The school’s board of trustees voted to accept the donation during their regular meeting Tuesday.
Reddy, a longtime Victorville resident, has now donated about $5.5 million to Victor Valley College, according to the report.
“The students who attend Victor Valley College and use these facilities are the workers of tomorrow, and without qualified and dedicated nurses the healthcare system would collapse,” Reddy said in a statement. “I’m fortunate enough to help, and do, because I know how critically important it is.”
