Capt. Michael Dorsey has been named Fontana’s next police chief.
Dorsey will succeed Chief Billy Green, who is retiring, according to a statement on the city’s Facebook page.
A 29-year law enforcement veteran, Dorsey will be in charge of all department operations, both sworn and non-sworn personnel. He is scheduled to be sworn in at the March 14 council meeting.
“Mike has a proven track record of not accepting the status quo,” said City Manager Matt Ballantyne in the statement. “His perspective will be a welcome addition to our executive management team.”
Dorsey was an officer with the Redlands Police Department for four years before joining the Fontana Police Department, according to the statement.
