Economic Conference Scheduled

Todd Buchholz, former White House director of economic policy and a regular on CNBC, the renowned business news channel, will deliver the keynote address at next week’s Southern California Economic Forecast in Ontario.

The conference, scheduled to be held Oct. 12 at Citizens Business Bank Arena, will bring together approximately 500 local business and community leaders and public officials, according to a statement released Tuesday.

The annual forecast, a comprehensive look at the future of the Southern California economy, is hosted by the Inland Empire Center of Claremont McKenna College, a joint venture between that school’s Lowe Institute of Political Economy and the Rose Institute of State and Local Government.

Ontario-based Citizens Business Bank is the forecast’s presenting sponsor.

Besides having worked in the first Bush Administration, Buchholz was once managing director of the $15 billion Tiger hedge fund, and he taught economics at Harvard. He is currently chief executive officer of Sproglit LLC, which develops software and classroom materials that help children learn math.

Jerry Nickelsburg, senior economist with the UCLA Anderson Forecast, will deliver the national forecast as well as an assessment of California’s economic future, according to the statement.

The conference will begin at 7 a.m. with registration, breakfast and a networking session. Forecasting sessions are scheduled to begin at 8 a.m.

Tickets are $75, and a table of 10 is available for $650. To register, or to learn more about sponsorships, call (909) 607-7572 or visit SoCalEcon.com.
