An elementary school has opened in Menifee.
Sally Buselt Elementary School is a K-5 institution that cost $54.5 million to build and will serve 600 students, according to a statement.
The facility at 29810 Wickerd Road covers more than 10 acres and includes 23 classrooms, kindergarten and administration buildings, a library, food service kitchen and a multipurpose room, according to a statement.
It also has an audio visual system, play and track fields, and playgrounds for children’s recreation. A 103-stall parking lot with student pickup and drop off areas is also planned.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by teachers, faculty, school administrators and local dignitaries was held July 31.The school is part of the Menifee Union School District.
Buselt, a teacher in the Menifee Union School District, was 46 years old when she died in an automobile accident in January, 2001. She had been teaching in the district for 15 years at time of her death, according to a published report.
