The Inland Empire recorded a 4.8 percent unemployment rate in April, down from a revised 5.1 percent in March, according to a report.
Employers in Riverside and San Bernardino counties added 2,500 non-agricultural jobs last month, with government accounting for 1,500 of those, the state Employment Development Department reported.
The two-county region’s unemployment rate was 4.9 percent in Riverside County and 4.8 percent in San Bernardino County.
The preceding numbers are unadjusted, meaning they don’t take into account seasonal factors that affect the job market.
California’s unadjusted unemployment rate in April was 4.8 percent. The state’s adjusted rate in April was 5.3 percent, unchanged for the third consecutive month.
Trade, transportation, and utilities increased by 1,200 jobs in the Empire region. Professional and business services lost the most jobs month-over-month, declining by 1,300, while agriculture dropped 200 positions, the reported stated.
