Esri Lands Contract

Esri in Redlands has been selected by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget to host and manage all of its imagery and data.

A leader in GIS technology, Esri will provide data for the Center for Shared Solutions, an office within the technology department, according to a statement released Thursday.

The Center for Shared Solutions manages services and products that are used in all areas of government. It also compiles and shares geographic information about the state of Michigan, according to the statement.

GIS technology is a computer system that stores and displays data related to positions on the surface of the earth. GIS can show multiple kinds of data on one map, which makes it easier to determine patterns and relationships.

Esri’s software is used by more than 350,000 organizations worldwide, including each of the 200 largest cities in the United States, according to the statement.
